Asbestos & Lead
Buildings built before 1985 must be inspected and certified by a licensed contractor in order to obtain a building permit for demolition or renovation. VA Construction Code section 110.3 requires that you notify the Department of Labor & Industy prior to asbestos demolition or removal and/or lead paint abatement. Plan Submittal Requirements
Two copies of an acceptable site plan must be submitted with the permit application. Plan must show lot dimensions with property line monuments, location and size of existing and proposed structures, easements (private and public), water courses, fences, street names and right of way lines, and any other information regarding abutting property as it directly affects the application.
